PREPARING TEAMS FOR HIGH CONSEQUENCE ENCOUNTERS
PALS HeartCode® is a blended learning course. The online part takes 6 to 9 hours and the in-classroom part approximately 1.5 to 5 hours depending on student number and experience. It is recommended for healthcare providers who have a current PALS Provider certification needing renewal and desire an alternative to the PALS Renewal Course. This is not offered to first time Providers.
Students must first complete the online portion of the PALS HeartCode available here. Upon successful completion of the online portion, including the course exam, students receive a certificate of completion, which they must present for entry into this Instructor-led hands-on session. This Instructor-led session focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, skills testing and megacode testing. This session takes approximately 1.5 to 5 hours depending on student number and experience.

I further understand that my course completion records may be accessed by or shared with such regulators as state EMS offices, training officers, and NREMT on a password-protected need-to-know basis. Cameron is a proud native Montanan, Raised in South Central Montana he made his way to the Flathead Valley where He found his love of Emergency Services. He has served his community as a swift water rescue technician, Dive Rescue specialist, Firefighter both structural and wildland and Paramedic. Cameron obtained his EMT license in 2009, finding a calling for taking care of sick and injured people he sought out and obtained a degree in Paramedicine in 2011. Cameron currently serves as a Firefighter Paramedic with Bigfork Fire Department and as the Campus Manager for Best Practice
John was born and raised in the Flathead Valley. He joined Evergreen Volunteer fire department (now Evergreen Fire Rescue) until his calling became evident and he joined Columbia Falls Volunteer Ambulance Association (now Three Rivers EMS) in 2001. Beginning as a First Responder Ambulance and transitioning to an EMT in 2002, eventually obtaining endorsements and an Advanced EMT license in 2012. In 2014 John graduated from FVCC with an AAS in Paramedicine, obtaining his license, followed by his Critical Care certification in 2015. In the fall of 2016 John taught EMT courses for FVCC until December of 2018. Finding a love for teaching, and following a brief sabbatical, John joined the Best Practice Medicine team in July of 2019.
